About
The potential for decarbonizing freight transport in Canada is considerable.
Despite demonstrations and modeling of the real impacts of a change in practices, misconceptions persist. The tools and solutions are not well known, and taking action remains difficult.
Thus, the project of a Resource Center for Sustainable Urban Logistics, serving knowledge as a common good, will help facilitate the transition to action.
The urban logistics ecosystem is rapidly evolving, and demand for support and guidance on the topic is increasing—particularly regarding urban micro-distribution centers (mini-hubs), resource-sharing initiatives, transition support, cargo bike logistics, and electrification.
This project contributes to a broader goal of creating a collaborative ecosystem in Canada to put knowledge into action and accelerate the implementation of sustainable urban logistics practices that help improve urban quality of life.

Collaboration
An advisory committee has been established to provide guidance on this collaborative project. Bringing together members from various sectors with a shared goal of advancing urban logistics, discover the individuals involved in this initiative.

Caroline Marie
Manager of the Sustainable Logistics Program
Mature and emerging logistics solutions need greater visibility to accelerate the transition to action. I believe the best way to achieve this is through collaboration.

Kim Rousseau
Advisor
It was important for us that this project be collaborative and aligned with a shared mission and vision. Strategic meetings bringing together diverse stakeholders were therefore essential.

Suzanne Pirie
Expert Analyst
The advisory committee enables active monitoring of available resources in urban logistics, whether from an academic or a more practical, field-based perspective.

Romain Gayet
Director, Zero-Emission Vehicles Sector
Decarbonizing last-mile logistics is one of the many priorities we must address if we want to achieve our GHG reduction targets in Quebec. I am pleased to support efforts in this area, and I hope this project will help guide and encourage many stakeholders to take action.

Adrien Benatek
Logistics and E-commerce Advisor
Retail plays an important role as a user of decarbonized last-mile logistics solutions. The CQCD is therefore involved to represent this perspective and promote their adoption.

Christian Couture
Head of Research and Innovation
I am part of the advisory committee to contribute, from a practical and operational perspective, to the development of concrete solutions. The Resource Center is an important lever for structuring, pooling, and disseminating knowledge generated from pilot projects, innovation, and applied research.

Amy Lombard
Project manager
Participating in the advisory committee allows us to represent the entire logistics chain and bring the perspective of freight transport. CargoM aims for the Resource Center to become a key tool in supporting the sector’s ecological transition. In this capacity, it facilitates the adoption of mature and emerging decarbonization solutions at all scales through the sharing of best practices and the acceleration of their implementation.

Nicolas Amyot
Urban Planning Advisor
City of Montreal
To support informed urban planning, pooling data, knowledge, and experiences is an effective strategy. The City of Montreal is therefore pleased to take part in this initiative, which accelerates knowledge sharing and transfer to address current and future urban logistics challenges and enhance the quality of interventions.

Vincent Dricot
Research Officer, Sustainable Mobility Planning Division – City of Quebec
In terms of development, the City of Quebec considers sustainable urban logistics issues in its planning, particularly regarding last-mile delivery. Through this committee, it aims to identify concrete solutions to support impactful projects within its territory and improve the quality of life in its neighborhoods.

Isabelle Bissonnette
Project manager, Ecological Transition, Société de développement de l’avenue du Mont-Royal
Over the years, various projects have been implemented on the Avenue with the SDC’s member businesses. Sharing the knowledge gained through the Resource Center’s advisory committee aligns perfectly with the vision of the Société de développement de l’avenue du Mont-Royal, which aspires to become a benchmark in local commerce, ecological transition, and neighborhood life.

Martin Trépanier
Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal and Member of CIRRELT
At CIRRELT, we work with businesses to develop concrete solutions aimed at improving the performance of urban delivery operations while promoting social, environmental, and economic sustainability. This Resource Center is fully aligned with these challenges.
